Spring Into Fall: Each vase is blown and is made one at a time start to finish. Glass is gathered onto the blowpipe and while the glass is thick and molten a layering of different glass colors is applied, mostly to the surface and then heated to melt the pattern into the surface of the gather, then the glass piece is formed. I do use a square mold for shaping the taller vases. The others are free blown and formed with traditional tools. At the very end of forming a tin salt is sprayed onto the glass and then heated once more before being put away into the annealing oven. The tin salt gives the glass the satin matte finish.
